I’m conscious of it having been more than a week since I last blogged, so this is rather cheeky as today I’m blogging just this little fern.

I love ferns and always make sure to have them in my garden. The vicarage garden in the Chilterns had a couple of lovely ones which gracefully accepted life in the shade of the enormous beech trees towering above the house and back garden.

In fact I so love ferns I stencilled gold ferns on a black chest of drawers – perhaps you remember the post from August 2012 which can be read here. Since I wrote that piece I have visited Highgrove House, the prince of Wales’s house and garden whose fernery and stumpery I mention – the stumpery I can take or leave but the fernery I thought was one of the best bits of an impressive garden. Must grow more – especially the ones that don’t loose leaves in winter.

Beautifully embroidered, and I enjoyed reading about the chest of drawers. I paid particular attention whilst reading as I am contemplating painting/refurbishing some second hand and existing sitting room furniture for much needed re-do this year. I will remember your wise words about not panicking….! X
Hope you have fun with the painting, Penny – spray paint for cars can be very good as it is quick drying and comes in lots of colours.
I have been popping in from time to time , to see your lovely embroideries . Ferns are my favourite and they can grow in the coldest, dampest, shadiest ,north facing places in the garden where nothing else will grow …even in my woodshed 🙂 Happy New Year x
