A very hurried post. J finished in good time – unusually for me – but called to London a bit earlier than planned and no time to do anything but the barest of posts until now.

Here is a Chinoiserie J – or is it Japonisme? Whatever it is it is loosely inspired by some of the things I love about the East – silks, curlicues and dangly tassels. Just a bit of embroidery fun.

As soon as I saw this J I thought “chinese”. Partly the tassel which I like – they give a certain elan but also the colours. They reminded me of the embroidered dresses of the court ladies.
Turquoise is a good colour isn’t it? A blue-green of real warmth, the very thought of it summons up luxuriousnes, voluptuousness and self indulgence – the real glory of it being you only need just a bit of it for the colour to weave its effect, as often seen in those Chinese embroidered dresses and robes.
I haven’t visited your site for so long and I missed it! I love the embroidered alphabet idea. The J for Jess is especially beautiful with its flowers. Enjoy your autumn! I love it maybe because it is the last nice weather before winter really kicks in.

You’re right, we do have a particularly fierce enjoyment for good autumn weather as we anticipate the long haul of winter ahead of us. (I don’t know why, but I always think that where you live is practically desert – or at least in a very dry climate?)
Very fond if J’s with having a Jacob, and I’s also, having an Isaac, though concur with your comnents in the last post that I’s are not easily made beautiful. X
